I have this theory that majority of the people have their purpose in life; spiritual, family, health, business, career, personal and all other aspects of their lives (known as your World).
They have this Inner GPS that is guiding them to do what they are doing... at times misread the GPS and got a bit lost or detoured. Could be taking a longer route to reach their destinations.
Recently gone through a good audiobook;
Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action by Simon Sinek
I would like to share some his the quotes from the book (stressing on the importance of starting with WHY...)
“People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it. And what you do simply proves what you believe”
"Very few people or companies can clearly articulate WHY they do WHAT they do. By WHY I mean your purpose, cause or belief - WHY does your company exist? WHY do you get out of bed every morning? And WHY should anyone care?"
"People don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it." "We are drawn to leaders and organisations that are good at communicating what they believe. Their ability to make us feel like we belong, to make us feel special, safe and not alone is part of what gives them the ability to inspire us." "For values or guiding principles to be truly effective they have to be verbs. It’s not “integrity,” it’s “always do the right thing.” It’s not “innovation,” it’s “look at the problem from a different angle.” Articulating our values as verbs gives us a clear idea - we have a clear idea of how to act in any situation." "Happy employees ensure happy customers. And happy customers ensure happy shareholders—in that order."
"All organisations start with WHY, but only the great ones keep their WHY clear year after year.”
“two ways to influence human behaviour: you can manipulate it or you can inspire it.”
“Leadership requires two things: a vision of the world that does not yet exist and the ability to communicate it.”
“This is important because our behaviour is affected by our assumptions or our perceived truths. We make decisions based on what we think we know.”
“Instead of asking, “WHAT should we do to compete?” the questions must be asked, “WHY did we start doing WHAT we’re doing in the first place, and WHAT can we do to bring our cause to life considering all the technologies and market opportunities available today?”
And many more... read the book and it will be a good starting point in realising that to change our world, we need to START WITH WHY...
And I have also learnt from my mentor / coach (based on the 8+1 P's below, one starts with Purpose);
1. Purpose
2. Pain
3. Pleasure
4. Passion
5. People
6. Process
7. Persistence
8. Permanence
and once ALL DONE... we plus the PARTY! for celebration.
