What's Your Passion?

What do Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have in common?

They were invited to Columbia Business School to have a forum with the students and I was lucky enough to have caught the session on TV in one of my travels (a few years ago). What I have learnt from their interview, was that, both of them have real PASSION in what they are doing. Just look at where they are today. What they have achieved are the price they have paid for having the PASSION in what they were doing before.

Of course, we will need to prepare ourselves to grab the opportunities that come our way. Even with the passion, we still need the right skills and preparation.

Never take things for granted, be passionate in what you do, learn to be better in what you are doing. Sharpen your axe prior chopping the tree. Prepare yourself for the big day to come.

I never knew that I love what I am doing now until I have done it and still I feel I have so much more to learn. And like McD's tagline, "I'm Lovin' It!"

As I journey along this path with passion, there will be PAIN and PLEASURE (creating memories and stories of my life). Not forgetting, the habits that I have to change and develop (paying the price) to achieve the results that I envisioned for...

Do you know why we do not stick to our habit?

1. The habit is too difficult

2. We do not enjoy doing it

3. Too many habits at once (making it hard for us to focus on small wins)

4. Too many other things going on (distractions)

5. Changes in our routine (sick, travel, visitors, big project at work)

6. Not really motivated to do it (could be due to our ability as well)

7. We talk ourself out of it

8. We miss a day or two and get discouraged.

Then, how do we stick to our habit?

1. One habit at a time (step by step)

2. A tiny habit

3. Once a day

4. Focus on starting

5. Enjoy doing it

6. Watch our thoughts

7. Do not miss two straight days

8. Be accountable and get support (accountability partner / structure)

9. The 3 weeks - 3 months principle (minimum of 21 days continuously, at least to start an easy habit).

Have you found what you are passionate about?

Spend some time to reflect. When you have found something that you love doing, you will never have to work another day in your life...

You will enjoy and seize the moment.

Then you will get the results, once you get the results, your motivation (attitude) will improve and then you realised that you have a lot of potential in you to do even more...

Apart from the PAIN, PLEASURE and PASSION, set your GOALS as well.

When your goals meet your burning desire, nothing can stop you from being successful.
